I feel like I’ve won the love lottery. I truly believe that there is no person on Earth who is a more perfect match, or who I would rather spend the rest of my life with. And out of all of the people in the world, I found you! It just took a little while. 

Of course the first thing I noticed is how good-looking you are. That initial moment of, “Whoa!”. Then almost immediately learning how much we have in common, how brilliant you are, and the perfect blend of nerdy and cool. But then I learned how positive, optimistic, and fun you are! How, kind, thoughtful, patient, and funny.

So I’m so excited to make these promises to you.

I promise to make time for us, just the two of us.

I promise to show you affection. To make it a priority, and not let it fade away.

I promise to be honest with you, always.

I promise to travel the world with you.

I promise to have dance parties in the living room.

I promise to be your concert partner, even if it’s not my favorite band.

I promise to share the every-day boring tasks with you without resentment.

I promise to share our lives with our family and friends.

I promise to keep making our own music together, be it covers or originals.

I promise to nerd out with you about math, puzzle games, tv shows, and movies.

I promise to communicate clearly with you when we have differences, and work them out peacefully and patiently.

I promise to problem solve with you. I don’t mean math problems. Difficulties will arise, but I know we can figure them out together, like we always have. But also math problems.

I promise to spend the rest of my life having as much fun with you as we can, and to love you and support you, always.

I’ve made so many major decisions in my life where I wasn’t certain it was the right choice, but I thought, “well, if it doesn’t work out I can always change it.” But this… this is the first time I do feel certain. Throughout our relationship, there’s never been a single day where I doubted us. You are my rock, my twin flame, and I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with you.

There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t shake my head at how lucky I was to find you.

You make me feel safe. I can be myself around you. I’ve been in so many relationships where I had to put up a front – to tiptoe around delicate issues or to pretend to be someone I’m not. I never have to do that with you. I trust you completely.

I promise to not take you for granted. I promise to compliment you often. Not just to tell you how hot you look, but also to remind you that you are smart, funny, and kind.

In difficult moments, I promise to always assume the best of you. If you say something I think is unkind, I promise to check in with you first to find out what you really meant.

I promise to always be kind to you. And if you call me on an unkindness, I promise to not get all defensive but to listen with open ears.

Finally, I promise to be a person who always says “yes” to fun.
